South Bank Innovation are proud to hear that LAFIC and Enterprise Steps alumni, Cajuu, will be selling their products through the Ocado online delivery service.
Cajuu, who joined the LAFIC programme in 2019, sell luxuriously large, flavoured cashew nuts with accompanying dip. Their snacks are vegan and ethically sourced from Tanzania, where the founder's family is from.
Cajuu attended four LAFIC workshops and were a key member of our LAFIC | Borough Market Food Futures scheme, where they hosted stalls at the market for a total period of three weeks. They also benefited from Enterprise Steps' workshops to learn business essentials.
Cajuu also worked with our Food Technologists to test a new-to-firm product, Cashew Milk.
"In the early stages LAFIC support was instrumental, not only in terms of information provided, but also for meeting people through the network events and courses who we learned a great deal from," says founder Habil Ibrahim. "Working with LAFIC's Food Techs was great as we were able to identify trends and they assisted with us getting crucial nutritional and shelf life data for our products. Cashew milk is still on the horizon, however we're at maximum operational and resource capacity so we may have to wait for a little bit longer!"
"We're extremely happy to see the progress that Cajuu have made since joining the programme," says Sam Ash, Project Manager for London AgriFood Innovation Clinic (LAFIC). "They're a great example of the way businesses can utilise our support programmes, as they worked their way through Enterprise Steps and then into LAFIC. We hope to see all LAFIC businesses follow their journey to market."
Cajuu ultimately hope to gain more stockists nationally and internationally, and are looking to add more flavours to their range.
